STOCKTON GLOBE CELEBRATES 90TH BIRTHDAY WITH A SHOW-STOPPING TRANSFORMATION AND UNVEILING OF FLEXIBLE NEW FLOOR

Stockton Globe, Teesside's legendary live entertainment venue, rolled out the red carpet and a brand-new floor last week as it celebrated an iconic 90 years at the heart of the region's cultural life.

Since opening its doors in 1935, Stockton Globe has hosted legends upon its stage from The Beatles and The Rolling Stone to more recently Queens of the Stone Age and Morrissey. In true style, it marked its 90th birthday on Thursday 14th August with a major innovation fit for the future, a brand-new flexible flat floor, unveiled to 100 key stakeholders.

The revolutionary new flooring allows the auditorium to seamlessly transform from traditional tiered seating to a completely flat space, opening up possibilities for even more live experiences such as seated gala dinners, conferences and even an immersive Roller Disco rink for all ages!

Venue Director, Jo Ager added:

"At Stockton Globe, we are committed to future proofing the venue by not only delivering a diverse programme of events but also actively partnering with the regional business community. With our new flexible floor, we can now support this through exhibitions, corporate dinners, and tailored events that foster innovation and collaboration in the corporate space. Venues must continuously evolve and be creative with their spaces to meet the ever-changing market demands and needs."

Guests were welcomed with bespoke gin cocktails and mocktails, courtesy of event sponsor Steel River Gin, before being introduced to the venue's latest innovation, the brand-new flexible flat floor layout.

The evening offered an immersive journey through the Globe's rich history and exciting future, including a special spotlight on the 1935 Corp Club. The Stockton Globe's 1935 Corporate Club gives businesses a unique opportunity to connect with new audiences while demonstrating their support for local arts and live entertainment. Also highlighted during the event was the dynamic Creative Learning programme at Stockton Globe and the wider ATG Entertainment portfolio. Creative Learning plays a vital role in engaging the local community through arts education and participation. From workshops and school partnerships to projects and skills-based training, the programme offers inclusive, accessible opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to get involved with the arts. It reflects the Globe's ongoing commitment to nurturing local talent, inspiring creativity, and putting culture at the forefront.

Venue Director, Jo Ager continued:

"Stockton Globe's Creative Learning programme plays a vital role in connecting with the community. It also offers businesses meaningful ways to contribute, whether through sponsorship, partnerships, or volunteering. This opportunity to enhance social value commitments while supporting inspiring projects allows businesses to make a meaningful impact in the community and contribute towards positive change. Since reopening, more than 12,000 people have participated in Creative Learning activities at Stockton Globe and this engagement continues to grow through workshops, events, and outreach initiatives."

Live entertainment was provided throughout the evening by the acclaimed Zoe Gilby Quartet, Creative Learning Practitioner and 'BBC Introducing One to Watch 2025', Marina Josephina. Marina was then joined by the Stockton Globe Community Choir, creating a heartfelt and uplifting atmosphere. The event was expertly hosted by Alfie Joey alongside Jo Ager.
